Grand River Métis Council:
President – Jennifer Parkinson
Chair – David Skene
Senator – Carol Lévis
Secretary-Treasurer – Leslie-Anne Muma
Women’s Representative – Colleen Brunelle
Born in Penetanguishene, Ontario I spoke French as a first language and come from a long line of singers, fiddlers and jiggers! I am the mother of two beautiful girls and it is my life’s goal to foster strength and confidence where they’re concerned. Through self-assurance, they will build on our family HERstory.
Ancestral research reveals a connection to Drummond Island and I am excited to learn greater detail of my connections to both the Métis and Inuit. I work as a Manager in the field of Social Services and attend focus groups aimed at assisting women at risk. I am a strong advocate for women’s issues and look forward to meeting you at one of the many events attended by the Grand River Métis Council.
Youth Rep – Rebecca Leitch
Councillor – Alicia Hamilton
Councillor – Diane Kilby
I was born and raised in Orillia and have lived in the KW region since 1998. My Métis heritage is grounded in Drummond Island and Penetanguishene. I am proud of my citizenship and am excited for the opportunity to learn more about our culture.
