Born in Manitoba and raised in Ontario. Now living in Woodstock, Ontario. My Métis heritage is from Red River Settlement – St. Laurent, Fisher Branch Manitoba area (Cree and Ojibway). I am a mother of three boys and with my soulmate by my side, an avid bow/shotgun Hunter and Fisher-woman, looking to embrace my heritage. I joined Grand River Métis Council in March 2017 and have been a proud citizen since 2009.
Women’s Representative – Colleen Brunelle
Born in Penetanguishene, Ontario I spoke French as a first language and come from a long line of singers, fiddlers and jiggers! I am the mother of two beautiful girls and it is my life’s goal to foster strength and confidence where they’re concerned. Through self-assurance, they will build on our family HERstory.
Ancestral research reveals a connection to Drummond Island and I am excited to learn greater detail of my connections to both the Métis and Inuit. I work as a Manager in the field of Social Services and attend focus groups aimed at assisting women at risk. I am a strong advocate for women’s issues and look forward to meeting you at one of the many events attended by the Grand River Métis Council.
